Established in 2008 to care for dogs while their owners are at work or on holidays, 'The Dog Stop' is very much a family run business made up of Julie, David, and daughter Rebecca.

Since 2008 Julie has been studying canine behaviour, handling skills & canine aggression at diploma level, and is pleased to have passed OCN level 2 handling skills with a merit & OCN level 2 & 3 canine behaviour with distinction. Although Julie had begun a course in canine nutrition unfortunately the course provider was unable to continue to offer the course and is now seeking a new course provider for this.

David is now studying Law & Welfare and is going on to study Health & Safety.

Both David & Julie have completed canine first aid so you can be assured that they can deal with any problems that might arise. They also continue to study to keep up with the current legislation.

Rebecca enjoys spending time with the dogs and will spend a considerable time grooming them. Her level of nderstanding and compassion towards animals is astounding for such a young child.

Adding to the family and playing a very important part in the house are Tinker, Buddy, Mist & Treacle.

Tinker: is a black & white collie cross spaniel brought over from the emerald isle as a puppy. We adopted him at sixteen weeks, and he has grown to be a sensitive soul who enjoys the company of other dogs.
Buddy: is a live coloured full working cocker spaniel who was also rescued from the emerald isle having been found tied up in a crate. When we adopted him from ARC Rescue he was thought to be about 5 months old. He is a typical spaniel, lively and loving, quick to instigate a game and mischief, enjoys the company of other dogs and has a soft spot for the puppies.
Mist: is a boarder cross Lakeland terrier and belongs to Rebecca.
Treacle: is the newest member to the family and is a golden working cocker spaniel. After adopting Buddy we became involved with doggy foster care and have had many puppies and older dogs through our door. The rewards of watching a nervous, stressed puppy or adolescent dog gain confidence are second to none, and the greatest reward is when they find a forever home.

Any dog entrusted to our care will always be looked after with compassion, without fear and without pain; they will enjoy long walks beside the river Ouse or long play sessions in the fields and woods less than 5 minutes walk from our front door. Your dog will receive cuddles, love and anything that its little heart desires. If your dog is used to sleeping at the foot of the bed, no problem, top of the stairs, no problem, we will endeavour to make your dog feel at home. If you would rather we can arrange residential care at your own home to lessen the stress that change can cause some dogs.

In addition to boarding we offer a drop in service if you are going to be home late from work or a day out ensuring your dog gets a toilet break, fresh water, food and a chance to stretch his legs in your garden, giving you peace of mind.

We have a fully fitted van with six cages, one giant breed size, two medium breed size and three small breed size. This enables us to offer a pick up and drop off service, and a dog taxi service ensuring that your dog never has to miss that all important grooming session, vet appointment, agility or hydrotherapy session.

We pride ourselves on the high quality of service we offer, are fully licensed by the council, have a DEFRA short distance transport licence, and are fully insured.

David & Julie are proud to be associated with and approved for the Brighton & Hove dog walkers code of conduct.
